Martin Kallenbach — Courage in Complex Change
From 40 Years of Governance to the Next Frontier: AI

I walk into rooms where others won’t go — hostile stakeholders, political deadlocks, organizations in crisis — and I create clarity. That’s been my work for over 40 years, and it’s what I bring to the next frontier: helping leadership teams navigate AI adoption through governance, not just technology.
Throughout my career at Cognizant, Tieto, HCL, Nokia, and AXA Tech, I’ve led large-scale transformations and restructurings — a €320M shared services program with 2,500 staff, hostile customer turnarounds, capability builds from scratch. What runs through all of it: courage to face what’s difficult, structured thinking to make it manageable, and genuine care for the people going through the change.
Today, AI is arriving fast. The EU AI Act takes effect in August 2026, and most organizations are treating it as a technology problem. It’s not — it’s a governance problem. And governance in complex, multi-stakeholder environments is exactly what I’ve been practicing my entire career.
Through BilboConsult, I advise on AI governance, IT transformation, and crisis leadership — helping leaders make the hard calls with confidence. Based in Helsinki, serving clients in Finland and the DACH region. Native German, fluent English, learning Finnish.
I use AI tools in my own diagnostic and delivery work — under the same governance principles I help clients build.
